SNOW!!!

Snow Day!!!! Finally!

OK these are not the best pictures but I am a little excited to see something different outside...something other than bare trees and gray skies and no sun. UGH!!! It has been so sad lately.  I am already having issues adjusting to the cold weather after my three years of Caribbean fun in the sun and salty air.  We have salt here alright but it's not the kind that comes from being in a salty beach, instead it's the kind you spread on the driveway to keep from falling on your bee-hind!

So with this little bit of snow, I think they said one inch, comes school delays.  School delays are fun for the kids, especially on snow day.  Hopefully, they'll have a chance to play a little before going to school this morning.  I'm ready with some play clothes and warmed up dry clothes for the quick change over.

Side note... I am terribly saddened to hear of the people who do not have a warm place to go to on days like these.  I've complained quite a bit this week about being cold, mostly because I'm having adjustment issues, not because I don't have a warm place to be.  I take it all back. It was just me venting and sometimes it's good to do that right?!

Anyway, I pray that shelters, warming centers and neighbors help those in need.  Let's help each other with hot cup of coffee, a simple hello, a warm embrace.  Look out for your neighbors, friends and family members. Sometimes people don't ask for help because of fear or shame. Sometimes we just have to be vigilant and help each other out in times of need.

Many blessings to everyone. Stay warm, stay safe!!

Snow Day

I made several comments recently about how I wish we had even a little snow and how much my kids would just love to be able to play in the snow.  Most of all how my older kids would love snow on a Monday because then they wouldn't have to go to school.  Not that they don't love school but it's sort of a treat  I guess.

So this morning I woke up to this.... keep in mind we really don't get snow at all, not even flurries:

Remeber this cardinal from a few days ago looking out my back door..well he's back.

Mr. Chilli here is taking a break from all the fun.  Actually, we tried building a real snowman but the snow was too fluffy and the snowballs were not sticking.  So we decided to just let him rest on the back porch swing.  Notice his unibrow and missing nose, he's just unique that's all...and lazy.

The neighbor's dog Earnie paid us a visit as well.  He was loving the snow.

Another one of my outdoor, backyard friends.  He's so cute all fluffed up like a little ball.

....and the Tonka truck now filled with snow.

Severe weather system delivers nothing but electrick shock

So the winter days have finally reached the Virginia Peninsula and apparently we are not fully prepared for this type of weather.  First, the kids had a "snow day" yesterday because we were having a severe weather system.  The system never arrived...we had no snow, not even a little rain.  It was cold but there was no precipitation what so ever.  So I had four kids in the house for the fourth day in a row.  They were bored and actually wanted to be in school instead.  Imagine that.

The second issue I have with our new weather system is the electricity in the air.  I really detest getting shocked and it happens everyday, in the house, in the car, when I pick up my laptop, when I touch someone...ugh!  It is so frustrating to get shocked, but even worse to get shocked over and over again by the same object.

I have a conversion van.  Yes I know, a gas guzzler but we are a family of six and the thing is paid off and it's gone this summer--yeepee!.  Anyway, when I arrive at my destination I just get up and walk to the back to unbuckle the baby and gather our things.  I get my first shock when I turn the car off, then when I put my keys in my pocket, then when I touch the seat on the way back, then again when I touch the seat belt buckle in the car seat, again when I open the car door and finally, when I close the door.

I think if my car was alive it would be rolling on the street laughing at my reactions every time it delivered it's shock of electricity into my body.  I don't hear anyone else in my family complaining about getting shocked so I have to wonder if it's just me.  What is it about me? Why am I getting the shocked treatment?

I'm asking for your help here.  Are there gloves, tools, a gadget, something I can use, wear, or carry?  I would love to hear your advice, support, ideas.  If nothing else, tell me I'm not the only one being slowly electrocuted by her vehicle and home.

Oh and that picture, yeah, that is what I or we were hoping for.  Oh well.  Did I mention how much I love to feel the cold air on my face?  It's energizing and refreshing for a chance :-)
